The institute met on November 19. The president welcomed two visitors. Dick Bolton gave a talk on A Year in the Life of a Blue Badge Guide. A most interesting talk with slides covering all aspects of the job including looking after local businesses plus coach tours, meeting visitors from abroad. Having knowledge of national and international affairs with language, law and order, and many other subjects came in useful. He had been a guide for 30 years. The meeting also discussed coming events with the WI centenary baton travelling in different modes of transport all around East Kent. The baton arrives at the hall on December 10 at 1.30pm. There is a trip to London on December 20 to Covent Garden and to see the lights. The Christmas meeting is one week early, on December 10 in the URC hail, Middle Wall.
