Canterbury’s most prolific shoplifter is back behind bars after being caught thieving again. Joanne Jones, 38, of Tennyson Avenue, has more than 200 convictions – a third of them for theft to fund her heroin adiction.
She admitted three offences of stealing meat worth £108 from a shop in Vauxhall Road, Canterbury, and cosmetics worth £50 from store in Kings Road, Herne Bay. Medway magistrates sentenced her to 30 days in prison, but because she was already subject to a suspended sentence, her custody was increased to 150 days.
