THE Corner House won Restaurant of the Year at the Taste of Kent Awards beating fellow Thanet eateries The Ambrette and Wyatt and Jones.
The Minster restaurant triumphed at last night’s awards dinner at the Kent Show Ground.
The Corner House, in Minster, is run by Matt Sworder who took over running the venue in June 2013 and is a former prodigy of Gordon Ramsey.
He said: “It’s fantastic news for the team and we are absolutely thrilled. It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement – we have only been going 18 months or so and to have such a prestigious award early in the development of the restaurant is a credit to the team.
“A big thank you to everyone who has supported us since the opening. I was very shocked – we were up against two very great restaurants.”
Monty’s Greengrocer and Gadds No. 3 were finalists for Kent Local Food Retailer of the Year and Best Kentish Beer respectively.
