Coastal Park – draft response

Here is the draft response from the Friends of the Downs to Canterbury City Council's management proposals for the newly created QE2 Coastal Park.

We would like all the Friends of the Downs to take the time to read it and let us know what they think - the final version has to get to CCC by the end of November.

Beach Hut Option Appraisal Report 2011

Here we go again! Despite the massive support for the Village Green application, and the clear message that Herne Bay wants the Downs unspoilt, the Council is thinking of putting up beach huts.

Yellow lines, etc.

Canterbury City Council is consulting on the latest requests for new yellow lines, parking bays, residents' parking and so on. Any objections to any of the items will be reported back to councillors in June and July. Items for which they do not receive objections will be implemented after the consultation period.

Town Centre Development – consultation outcome

As you may remember, dear reader, Canterbury City Council very kindly ran a public consultation exercise last summer/autumn to find out what Herne Bay thought of their proposals for our town centre. This is the development that centres on the William Street car park, and involves putting up a large supermarket next to the, er, current supermarket, and building a hotel and some shops and houses.
