Peace comes to Herne Bay at last

WHAT bliss! We have total peace in Herne Bay since Manston airport closed last Thursday — the difference is phenomenal. The noise of aircraft overhead and the attendant pollution has increased so much in recent years, that until the airport closed, residents weren’t aware of how much noise and pollution we had to put up with. As I understood it, aircraft were supposed to approach the airport over the sea but the majority of the air traffic came in directly over the town (and quite low at times). My walled courtyard would be filled with aviation fumes, which took a long time to dissipate; the pollution and noise overhead was horrendous. Please Ann Gloag do NOT reinstate the airport and let us have Herne Bay back as the lovely seaside leisure town it used to be.
