Lord Mayor worthy of our support

I read with interest the letter in last week’s Herne Bay Gazette from Don Munnings about the Lord Mayor (Theatre Policy Was Hardly Charitable, Letters and Opinion, Herne Bay Gazette, June12). First of all, I would like to say the Lord Mayor does not receive anything for carrying out these duties, it is done on a voluntary basis. Mrs Taylor works hard and she fulfils the duties of Lord Mayor in her free time. In the article printed in the District Life Magazine, which is posted through all our doors in Herne Bay. it clearly states that she supports the Kent Air Ambulance and Porchlight/Catching Lives, which I find to be most acceptable. So if you have anything other than a “few foreign coins” Mr Munnings, perhaps you might donate to something that could possibly be life saving for you or your family in the future.
