I notice that in your recent article on the election contest in St Stephens, you say it is a straight contest between Lib Dems and Tories, and make no mention of the Labour Party candidates. You take no account of the hustings which took place at St Stephen’s Hall on April 13. I was at this meeting and was impressed by the performance of the Labour candidates Mike Bland and Rosie Duffleld. They struck me as impressive in their desire to connect with local people. Generally they were very well-received and appeared to have a lot of support from the people there and my understanding is that Labour’s share of the vote in the last county council elections in the area bears this impression out.
