Rotarians take a £1,000 dip

Herne Bay Rotary Club clipped into its pockets and splashed out to donate £1,000 to Strode Park Foundation’s hydrotherapy pool appeal. Club president Eric Ashwin-Kean presented fundraiser Tracy Barden with the cheque at a special event on Wednesday, May 7. He said:

“We are glad to support Strode Park Foundation, one of the most deserving charities in our area, and to boost the hydrotherapy pool appeal fund.”

Since the appeal was launched in August 2013 they have raised a total of £118,000 towards the £222,000 target. The next fundraiser will be a cyclothon on Saturday, May 17, at Whitefriars Tesco in Canterbury, from 10am to 5pm. Find out more at www.strodepark.org.uk or 01227 373292.

Bingo! It’s a tax cut party

Members of the Connaught Bingo club will celebrate tax cuts for bingo halls with a free event tomorrow (Friday). The Boost Bingo campaign called upon Chancellor George Osborne to slash a levy in his budget from 20% to 10%. You can call the club on 01227 372128.
