Traders meeting to talk things through

HERNE BAY: Traders will meet tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss issues facing independent businesses. Any retailers or interested people who run businesses in Herne Bay are welcome to attend the meeting of the Independent Retail Group at 5.30pm in the Wine Bar in Mortimer Street. Among issues on the agenda is this year’s Summer Showcase, to be held on August 30, and the market move to the town centre.

Child hit by car

HERNE BAY: A ten-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car on Saturday. Police were called at 12.35pm to reports of the incident in King’s Road. The child was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Men arrested

HERNE: Two men have been arrested after a man suffered serious facial injuries in an assault in Herne. The victim was taken to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother hospital in Margate after the incident in Ruskins View in the early hours of Monday morning. A police spokesman said inquiries were continuing.
