Herne Bay photographers show their talents in competition

Members of Herne Bay Photographic Club have been pitting their skills against each other in competition. The first contest had the theme ‘Street’ and was won by Denise Smith for her photo All By Myself.

The judge was Trevor Youe, who had given the club a lecture in October, and he spoke about the art of capturing a good ‘street’ image. He said he liked the edginess of the image and the way it offered “more questions than answers”.

The club also had an open competition and here first place went to Di Long with Bridge To The Unknown. Mr Youe said he loved the colours in this image and the fact that the subject matter was well balanced.

The club is always looking for new members and is open to anyone with an interest in photography. Meetings are on Tuesday evenings at the Beacon Centre, Sea Street, from 8pm-10pm (doors open at 7.45pm), entrance £2.

For more information, email Denise Smith at denise@dspublishingservices.co.uk or phone her on 07867 665554. You can also follow the club on Twitter @HerneBayPhotoC or visit its website, www.hbphotoclub.co.uk
