How the Aldi store could look

WORK on an Aldi supermarket in Herne Bay is expected to start next month.

The Aldi store was granted planning permission in November and now the proposals for the 1,665 sq m store, which will be built by Coplan Estates on the site of the King’s Road car park, should be just weeks away from reality.

A total of 93 new jobs is predicted, while there will also be seven other retail units, some 50 residential properties and 230 car-parking spaces.

Michael Khoury, of the Herne Bay Chamber of Commerce, told the Times:”It will probably give Morrisons in Beach Street a kick up the backside and I’m sure they will do something in response.
