As the traditional Easter selection of Miss Herne Bay moves closer I would, on behalf of Herne Bay Carnival Association, like to thank Miss Herne Bay 2014, Aurora Summers, and her princesses, Alice Upton and Mollie King, for all their efforts in representing the carnival association during their year in office. They should be proud of themselves for their conduct and dignity throughout the year, as should their families, friends and the people of Herne Bay as they acted as ambassadors for the town exceptionally well. Along with their Return To Oz themed float a number of trophies were secured during the year at other Kent carnivals and with the carnival day weather proving to be on our side, it highlighted how much the people of Herne Bay enjoy their annual carnival as they turned out in large numbers to either take part or watch.
Any girls aged 15 or over living in the Herne Bay area who are interested in representing their town during 2015/2016 can now obtain an entry form via the associations office or via Facebook or by contacting us on 01227 364836 or via firstname.lastname@example.org where more information can be obtained.
More information will also be available daily via the association’s Twitter account @HBCarnival. A rehearsal will be held for all contestants at the Kings Hall on Good Friday afternoon to give them an idea of what to expect later that night. The 2015 selection dance promises to be a good evening and will take place at the Kings Hall from 7.30pm with the entertainment being provided by Island Disco Services. Tickets for the dance are also available at a cost of £4 on the door or via Kids Korner, Peters Produce, or the Activity Box.
The three lucky winners will receive some great gifts and prizes from the following confirmed businesses thus far, to whom the carnival association is very thankful: Active Life; Attractions Bridal Studio; Cam’s Amusements; Heron Workwear; J.A. Dilnot, Domestic Appliance Engineer; JCJ Table Top Fairs; Sainsbury’s; Sandbar Consulting; Style Photography; Momsons and WAHL (UK). Their generosity and support of the competition is very much appreciated as is that of all local businesses who have taken and displayed a poster to advertise the event. With a busy diary of events scheduled for their year, including a number of events in Herne Bay itself, the new court’s highlight, as it is for many, will be the Herne Bay Carnival procession on August 8. Finally, thank you once again to Aurora, Alice and Mollie for all their hard work in making their year in the Herne Bay Carnival Court a successful one. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
