During the course we will discover the origins and evolution of domestic architecture in Kent and something of the lives of those who lived in these houses.

Poetry: Travelling Hopefully
Exploring the poetry of travel; its expectations and railway stations, underground and Ezra Pound. Walking, cycling, on the bus, at sea, flying and in space!

Gardens: The Story of the Baroque, the Capable Mr Brown, Victorian Crazes and Arts and Crafts
The formality of gardens was swept away by the English Landscape Movement, followed by the Picturesque and the influence of plant hunters. The course includes an organised garden visit and tea.

Most of our courses are supported by the Skills Funding Agency. For those on income related benefit, fee remission may be available. Those courses not supported by the Skills Funding Agency do not have full fee remission but concessions may be available. Please telephone the Herne Bay Branch for further details.
Refunds
A full refund will be made if the WEA cancels a course before it begins or up to and including the second sessions. Students will not be entitled to a refund if a class is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or tutor illness and the student is unable to attend a re-arranged session.
