The RNLI has issued a warning to inflatable users after seven people, including four children, in two rubber dinghies were blown out to sea off Herne Bay on Saturday afternoon. The Whitstable lifeboat was called to the incident but a passing jet skier had already come to their aid and helped them to shore.
The lifeboat was called out again early on Sunday morning to a stricken small fishing boat which had broken down with a suspected jammed starter motor. The 15ft craft was about half-a-mile off the King’s Hall when the engine failed and the lifeboat secured the vessel and towed it back to the Neptune Jetty.
