Tinie Tempah disappoints fans at Club Chemistry in Canterbury

Clubbers are demanding refunds after rap superstar Tinie Tempah fled a gig in Canterbury after just two songs.

Eager revellers waited until 3am last night (Saturday) for Tinie’s appearance at the city’s signature nightclub Club Chemistry in Station Road.

But when the Brit Award-winner finally graced the stage, he delivered just two tracks before disappearing again, reportedly saying “I’ll see you on tour”.

People had paid up to £38 for the “exclusive” event which had been described as an “intimate gig” and an “opportunity not to be missed”.

“It was all a massive let down. We have lodged a formal complaint with his management and have demanded your ticket money back.” – Club Chemistry management.

VIP ticket holders had even been promised to meet the man himself, but that opportunity never materialised.

University of Kent student Rachel Bailey, 19, and her friends had popped to the bathroom after Tinie’s first song but returned half way through his second, only to find out that would be his last.

They first thought he was joking and may return for an encore, but as time went on it was clear that was not the case.

Rachel said: “As a student, I didn’t really have the money to spend nearly £40 on a ticket but as a big Tinie Tempah fan, I decided to go.

“He performed the two songs half heartedly as well. I’m so disappointed and angry. Having to wait around until 3.30am for two songs was extremely tiring and boring.

“I expect a full refund and can safely say he won’t be seeing me on tour.”

Keira Hannigan, 24, from Herne Bay, waited at the front of the stage for hours before Tinie’s arrival. She said: “Me and my friend were really looking forward to seeing Tinie Tempah and we couldn’t believe our luck when we managed to get tickets.

“We were not expecting him to perform a full set but we did think he would have done at least 30-45 minutes, so you can imagine our frustration when he turns up at 3am and then sings two songs and leaves soon after.

“We went to see Eminem last year at Wembley and he played for two hours – that was £60. I paid nearly £40 to see Tinie and he comes out and plays two songs. It’s disgraceful.

“Everyone should get refunds. It is just not acceptable.”

Other fans took to social media to vent their fury.

Management at Club Chemistry have now issued an apology for Tinie’s tiny set.

They said on Facebook: “To all you Club Chemmers that attended Tinie Tempah.

“We are as disappointed as you. We were promised a two hour set with DJ Charlesy that included a decent performance from Tinie Tempah, as well as meet, greet and photos.

“We will PM (private message) everyone that bought tickets as soon as we have update.

“Club Chemistry is committed to delivering quality artists and entertainment and it would appear that some people are not as dedicated to the cause as we are.”

Tinie, who has had two number one single, had tweeted about his visit to Canterbury earlier on in the day, but has yet to apologise for disappointing his fans.

Tonight I’ll be in Canterbury at 2.30am!
