Members had a day out in East Sussex, visiting Pestalozzi International Village Trust in the morning and Sandhurst Vinyards in the afternoon. The morning was most interesting and following an informed presentation, toured the 130 acre site, including the Rotary forest, met and spoke with students from Belize, Zambia, Nepal and Tibet and concluded the visit with a buffet lunch.
The afternoon at Sandhurst Vinyards was interesting in a different sort of way. The skill needed in producing excellent wines was clearly described by our guide, from the planting of vines to the harvest of the grapes. This was followed by wine tasting and also sampling beer brewed from home grown hops.
