Having just completed a course of therapy as a patient in Kent and Canterbury Hospital’s oncology centre, I’d like to praise publicly the cheerfulness, professionalism, efficiency and openness to all inquiries of the medical and nursing staff, especially the radiography team. They do long shifts and are probably underpaid, while interim chief executives, as you have pointed out, are unbelievably, almost absurdly, overpaid. What we must hope for is that the ‘turn-around managers’ at the hospital will take proper account of the opinions and ideas of all those who work there, and not try to manufacture yet more grand schemes and solutions for their own glory.
