Poundworld opens store

THE pound shop wars have officially come to Canterbury as a new branch of Poundworld has opened just down the road from Poundland. The bargain retailer opened on Thursday, November 13, with fans queuing up outside to take advantage of the opening day deals. The Sheriff of Canterbury Councillor Tony Austin, was on hand to cut the ribbon for the store which has brought 30 new jobs to the city. Speaking ahead of the opening, Chris Edwards Junior, trading director at Poundword, said:

“We’re delighted to be opening our very first store in the area on Canterbury High Street.”

Poundworld can be found on Canterbury High Street. The firm was featured on BBCI’s Pound Shop Wars which followed the battle between the store and rivals Poundland.
