Music in Mortimer Street prepares great year for Herne Bay

Music In Mortimer Street is beginning its eighth year as a vehicle for promoting music in Herne Bay. Its aim is to offer a spectrum of music in a new venue, the United Church, which enjoys an excellent organ, grand piano, impressive acoustics and a central location.

It has hosted male voice choirs, brass bands, solo singers, jazz and popular music shows as well as visiting concert pianists and cathedral organists. The church is waiting for permission for structural changes that would transform it into a social centre in its own right.

Concerts are held every month with the exception of January and February. This year’s season starts with the Railway Swing Band “swinging us into spring” on Wednesday, March 11, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £7 and include light refreshments. Prices throughout the season will vary from £6 to £8, depending on the concert. Details of this season’s concerts are available at www.unitedchurch.co.uk or by phone on 07985 487726.
