I read with interest the letter from Don Munnings about the young Lady Mayoress Clarie Taylor (Theatre Policy Was Hardly Charitable, Herne Bay Gazette, June 12). I read the article in the magazine District Life about this young lady. F’irst of all I would like to say that Ms Taylor does not receive anything for carrying out these duties, it is done on a voluntary basis Mr Munnings. Ms Taylor works hard to keep her daughter herself and a home going. I, for one, admire her, and she fulfils the duties of Lady Mayoress in her free time. In the article printed in the District Life, it clearly states that she supports the Kent Air Ambulance and Porchlight/Catchmg Lives, which I find to be most acceptable. I feel that both her and her mother the Lord Mayor of Canterbury are doing a grand job. So, if you have anything other than a ‘few foreign coins’ Mr Munnings, perhaps you might donate to something that could possibly be life saving for you or your family in the future
