Organisers of a day dedicated to celebrating independent music shops are hoping for a record turn-out.

Os and Chris Eastman, who own B Side The C Side in Herne Bay High Street, have teamed up with Kris Searle and Carl Crane from Inspire U Records to celebrate Record Store Day on Saturday, April 18.

The shop will be open from 8am with music from 11am, including a performance from Kris, who was officially considered for a Grammy award and holds five LA Music Awards.

Kris said: “More and more music fans are going back to the traditional format of listening to music on vinyl, with its unique sound quality and the sense of experience with the sleeve artwork that accompanies the record.

“And while there’s no denying that there are many people who buy music digitally, there are still hordes who like to have a physical record to add to their collection.

“Being able to buy music from stores like B Side The C Side makes it an even more special experience.”

Kris and Carl will also be promoting their new Music Studio on the Pier, which is due to open next month following a successful Kickstarter campaign online.

Supporters pledged £4,000 to kit out the studio on Herne Bay Pier, which will act as a base for their business offering a range of musical services including vocal coaching, music recording and their own independent record label. The pair are already working with artists in the UK and LA and are always on the lookout for new talent.

The event will be the first time Os and Chris have taken part in Record Store Day since taking over B Side the C Side in 2013, after previous owner Sam Birkett retired and sold up. They will have more than 100 limited edition new release records available on the day as well as their extensive range of good quality used vinyl.

The shop includes a specially built listening booth, an entrance themed around the iconic Beatles album cover Abbey Road and a room dedicated to Jazz and Blues.

As well as Kris, there will also be performances from Luke Barrett and Ashton Lilburn as Rapture, Ashley Crane, Katie Searle and Alex Williams, with special guest DJ Defibrillator also in attendance.
