Pizza chef’s top award

Expert Italian food judges have honoured a Herne Bay chef with their top award for his authentic pizza-making skills. Gennaro Esposito set up his restaurant A Casa Mia in the High Street in September 2012. This week judges from the Neapolitan Pizza Association will fly in to present him with a certificate. Mr Esposito wowed them with a video which showed his food preparation and cooking technique. He said:

“It’s a very proud achievement and a big thing to achieve this for the restaurant and for Herne Bay.”

Conversion plan

Plans to convert the former Queen Victoria pub in the High Street into an estate agents and upper floor flats have been submitted to Canterbury City Council. Miles & Barr’s plans also include six new one bedroom flats in the rooms above.
