HEALTH and Safety Executive (HSE) officers will visit the Manston airport site after a worker suffered a serious head injury there yesterday.
Representatives could begin investigations at the site later today (Wednesday), after a spokesman confirmed the agency is aware of the incident and is making enquiries.
The man had been working on the ongoing plane-breaking operation at the former airport. It is understand his injury was caused by an industrial grinder.
He was been airlifted to Kings College Hospital for treatment. Air ambulance staff recorded the man had suffered injuries to his head, thorax, upper arm, hand and lower leg.
The aircraft breaking operation at the site was temporarily halted by the Environment Agency in November, after it was discovered work was taking place without correct environmental permits.
