Herne Bay photographic Club

THE Herne Bay photographic Club enjoyed a very different lecture on January 20, from freelance paparazzi Alan Chapman. Alan has been photographing celebrities for over 30 years. Today he is more likely to go into clubs and parties to photograph the rich and famous.

Members were treated to a selection of Alan’s images, together with an often hilarious commentary of how the shot was taken, or in some cases missed! He regaled us with stories about stars such as Mick Jagger and Liam Gallagher, and how he was once attacked by Jay Kay, lead singer of Jamiroquai — his face being shown all over the national press. Alan has just published a book — Frame — which contains a selection of his high-quality, black and white, limited edition prints. US actor Adrain Grenier, star of Entourage and The Devil Wears Prada writes the foreword, which ends: “I have my own copy and it sits well with my entire art collection. I love it”

Yesterday (Tuesday) was the mono/DPI competition for DPIs. Next Tuesday will be a practical evening. One of the club’s experienced members will be providing a tutorial on some ot the aspects of Photoshop.
Come along and see what we do, Tuesday evenings at the Beacon Centre, Sea Street, 8 to 10pm (doors open at 7.45pm). It costs £2 on the door, membership costs £20 for the year. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
