Herne Bay Photographic Club

The club held the second half of its mono/open competition on January 27, this time for digital images. The judge for the evening was local man Malcolm Hardie. The first half of the evening was dedicated to the mono images, and Malcolm was generous with his critique allowing plenty of time to discuss each entry in detail. First place went to Steve Roberts for his image Squadron Leader Reporting for Dut second Di Long with Artistic Adjustments; third Volker Jottkandt for Staircase – Delamar – Bexhill. A real perfectionist, Malcolm was particularly impressed with the standard of entries in the open section, awarding 10 of the images with 18 marks or higher.

First, Dan Hogben with Light at the end of the Tunnel; second Di Long with D-l-Y Face Lift; 3rd Volker Jottkandt with Discreet Seduction. On February 3 one of the more experienced members provided a masterclass in Photoshop. On Tuesday, February 10,) members are looking forward to another competition, combining print and digital entries, on the subject of Urban Decay. Judge for the night will be Tony Catt.

The club is open to new members, young and not so young, experienced and those new to the hobby. It meets us on a Tuesday at the Beacon Centre, Sea Street, 8pm-10pm (doors open at 7.45pm).
