THIS year’s Herne Bay air show just keeps growing and growing – it has been announced that 10 First World War aircraft will be re-enacting dogfights along the seafront during the August event.
A spokesman for BayPromoTeam said: “We’re absolutely delighted to announce that we have secured the services of The Great War Display Team, one of Europe’s largest display teams for our Herne Bay Amy Johnson Memorial Airshow this August!”
Ten replica aircraft – British Sopwith triplanes, German Fokker DR1 aircraft, Royal Aircraft Factory SE5a and BE2cs and German CL1 Junkers – will take to the Herne Bay skies to re-enact some of the dramatic dogfights from the 1914-18 conflict.
We are promised “swoops, dives, and simulated machine-gun fire as part of the show”.
The spokesman said: We’re very lucky to have such a wonderful team displaying in Herne Bay at such a poignant time with the current anniversary of The Great War.
“Saturday, August 15, will be a day like no other – there will be further big announcements coming within the next couple of weeks!”
