Great unanswered questions – No. 1 in an occasional series

If the old airport at Manston is a “national asset”, and if the Conservative Government really, really wants to “save” it, then why, when the owners went to see the Minister for Aviation last year to warn him that they were going to close it, did he and his Government do nothing while it was still operational?

Absolutely nothing. Nada. Stuff all. Sweet FA.

Why did he say then that the closure was a shame, but that it was entirely a decision for the owner? What can possibly have changed since then?
