Brewer Karen Goody had a weekend of time travel as medieval re-enactors invaded the Bleangate Brewery at Herne.
A group from the Medieval Siege Society staged sieges and battles, demonstrating their archery skills and setting up camp for the weekend.
But while visitors learned traditional skills at the brewery in Herne, home to Goody Ales, Karen went back to the future to take part in the Sci-fi By The Seaquel event on Sunday. She said:
It was a weekend of two extremes, but it was great fun. We had a steady stream of people up at the brewery and I think it was just right – we didn’t want it to be too big as it was our first weekend event.
People were able to talk to the re-enactors, who were fantastic and very friendly, and the children enjoyed trying out different things and looking at the costumes.
It was our first time at the sci-fi event and we had a great time there, although it was very strange going from the medieval times to a world of robot and aliens!
The medieval weekend was part of the brewery’s Firkins at Full Moon events. For details of the next one, visit their website www.goodyales.co.uk or call 01227 361555.
