WE have been waiting ever since the failure of EU Jet for Manston to get its act together again. So, when we saw flights to Edinburgh, we decided to show support by booking a long weekend there. What a let-down! Firstly the flight leaves Manston late afternoon and returns mid-morning so our long weekend was immediately reduced to a day and a haif. Secondly the arfare, adding on taxes of £57 and other costs, comes to £100 per seat. Once hotel fees, parkng at Manston and taxi fares in Edinburgh have been taken into consideration, the total cost is somewhere near £450 per couple. I think Flybe will need to do a lot better than that on cost and flight times if they expect people to book leisure breaks rather than business trips.
