An all women panel of election candidates will speak at a hustings on Wednesday.
The fresh Voices event is aimed at letting people hear from females of all parties standing in South Thanet.
Speakers will include Lynne O’Donoghue of the Lib Dems, Conservative Lesley Game, Laura Hackett from the We Are The Reality Party and Labour’s Karen Constantine. Ukip has been invited to send a representative and invites have been made to Independents, including Manston airport campaigner Ruth Bailey.
Ms Bailey, and Green district candidate for Margate Central, Louise Oldfield, are both expected to boycott the event after originally being told only main parties would be speaking.
An all-male hustings held by the Round table in January caused furore when it was revealed the event would have a male only audience.
Several South Thanet candidates lodged complaints, including Independent Ruth Bailey and Green Ian Driver.
Mr Driver vowed to complain to the Round Table head office after pictures of himself and Will Scobie were put on display at the top table of the hustings.
Cllr Driver’s photograph was attached to a ‘wet floor’ stand while a moustache was drawn onto an image of Cllr Scobie.
Fresh Voices event organiser Mrs Constantine said men and women would be welcome in the audience.
The event is at the Oddfellows Hall in the High Street and starts at 7pm.
