Comments are condescending

I do not wish to get involved in unprofessional one-upmanship matches. However, I would to make very clear to Colin Grundon my experience of local sea conditions is better than an ‘angler’ (My Experience Beats Angler’s, Letters and Opinion, Herne Bay Gazette, January 8). Can I remind Mr Grundon the vision drawing taken from an air view of the marina section of the pier is not final? So his continued suggestion of a north-facing entrance to the marina is not what we are intending to do. I am very disappointed that even though Mr Grundon claims he is a professional in his field of marina building, he finds time to condemn and criticise his fellow professionals. He is wrong to say our reports were done on the cheap. At one point we were part of a charity with no funds but the global experts from the two companies we engaged, after showing them all our vision, were willing to not only do us work for free but did the reports at an exceptionally low cost too. We also had many members of the general public make donations for some of the work. I find Mr Grundon’s comments somewhat condescending. Finally, I would like to say that even though Mr Grundon boasts a Master Ocean Yachtsman RYA Certificate, many others who want the marina hold the same qualifications. This includes registered deep-sea boat skippers. We shall be continuing our progress despite the doubters and the sceptics.
