BURGER fans in Canterbury might be pleased after Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) started work on a new restaurant in St Peters Street, next to Subway. It is expected to officially open to the public on July 6 and will join other popular chains such as Ask Italian, Wildwood, and Nando’s. GBK is known for its large burgers, fresh produce and casual service style. The initial success of the Battersea restaurant led to further openings across London. The new Canterbury branch will be only the second to open in the south east outside of the capital.
What does the city need?
WITH news of Gourmet Burger Kitchen opening its first restaurant in Canterbury this summer, the Times asked what restaurants our readers think are still missing in the city. Scores of you took part in our weekend online poll asking which chain you would like to see next, although more than ten per cent said they would rather see independent traders come in. Alongside this, the results were as follows..
• T.G.I. Friday’s: 25 per cent
• La Tasca: 4.2 percent
• Frankle and Benny’s: 14.6 per cent
• Wimpy: 4.2 per cent
• YO! Sushi: 27.1 per cent
